If you’re obsessing over your “need to know” before you do anything, it’s likely the symptom of a deeper performance block…Perfectionism!
Now I could go on and on telling you how debilitating perfectionism is. How it limits your performance, slows your momentum, and pretty much leads to frustration and stress at every turn. How overcoming perfectionism is absolutely critical to your overall success.
But instead I’d rather just tell you the ugly, horrible truth (you’ll probably subconsciously deny) about why you struggle with it:
“Perfectionism is trying to get the world to believe
something about you that you don’t believe yourself.”
Perfectionism isn’t just a bad habit. It’s an issue of self-awareness. So if you can’t get unstuck from having to get every detail right before you do anything, it’s time to take a deeper look inside yourself. Think about these:
- What are you trying to prove by your pursuit of perfection?
- Why do you think you need to prove it?
- What kind of proof do you need?
- Where is your belief in yourself lacking?
These are some heavy questions. But if you struggle with perfectionism, be sure to think them through.
