Become Passionate about Learning.
This will take some work, but the only way to do it is to begin learning about things that have an immediate impact in your life.
When you learn about a new financial concept that helps you earn money or get out of debt, that will get you fired up.
When you learn about a way to communicate that helps you sell more product, that will energize you. When you learn about how to interact with your family in a healthy way and your relationships get better, that will inspire you! Become passionate about learning. And when you do, you will be unlocking the potential of your mind!
Have you ever met someone who proudly boasts that they haven’t read a book since they left school? Perhaps that may even be you (I sincerely hope not!).
I often wonder how those people manage to get on in life. How do they cope with advances in technology? When was the last time their income increased? What do they do with their time? Are they really happy with their life?
In my humble opinion, we should NEVER stop consciously learning and setting ourselves new challenges. It’s what keeps you interested, vibrant and alive. We’ve all heard the stories of people who retire, and just stop living. Often literally. They die of boredom. How could you be bored if you had new things to learn about?
I don’t buy into the mindset that you should only concentrate on your strengths and outsource your weaknesses. I’m not saying that you need to strive for perfection in all you do (that’s a whole other blog post), but let me ask you this…how will you expand and grow if you only ever do the things you are already good at?
Actively creating new experiences in your life gives you control over your life. Think about that for a moment.
You can either lay back and allow life (and all it’s crappy challenges) to happen to you, or you can create your own challenges, meet them and start mastering your life, gathering more competence and confidence as you go.
So when ‘life’s crappy challenges’ do happen, you are in a position to say “I can do this!” How great would that make you feel?
The more confident you feel, the more likely you will be to take on new tasks and develop new skills. The more new challenges you complete the more confident you will feel, and around and around it goes. It’s an upwards spiral to a better life.
You need to get serious about your learning to develop more competence, and therefore more confidence, in your life.
